A.P Udayabhanu Malayalam Writer Freedom Fighter Journalist Social Activist Kerala

                                      A.P Udayabhanu(October 1, 1915 - December 15, 1999) was an Indian freedom fighter,journalist, writer and social activist from the State of Kerala. He was from the famous Alummoottil Channar, an Ezhava, family of Muttom near Haripad of Central Travancore.A freedom struggle fighter, Gandhiyan, a political leader who never departs from his principles , a journalist . A.P Udayabhanu is such a genius who had a significant role in the socio-political background of Kerala. He became a member in the Indian National Congress at the age of 17 in 1933. He became SNDP students conference secretary and was elected to Travancore Parliament in 1944 and 1948. He actively participated in the Quit India Movement. In 1948, he came State Congress General Secretary and in 1957, became Thiru-Kochi State Congress President. The chief-ministership of Thiru-Kochi was not beyond his reach. But he left it without giving much importance to that position. He was not a selfish politician. He worked as a member for Public Service commission during 1963 to 1969. He is also well known for his contributions to the Malayalam literature, especially towards the genre of light essays.were simple, touchy and humorous.Enteyum Kathayum Alpam is his auto biography. There were more than 31 books to his credit and won many awards.Kerala Sahithya Academy Award for lifetime contributions in 1933,Swadeshabhimani Award for contributions to journalism in 1933,Pathradhipar K. Sukumaran Memorial Award in 1995
